We plan to test the moderating effects of all five personality traits on the associations between discrimination and health using two separate cross-sectional samples: MIDUS 3, and the Milwaukee African American sample in predicting mental health. We also plan to test the incremental validity of personality traits and discrimination in predicting physical health. Regarding the mental health variables, we do have specific hypotheses that we seek to test:
