The advent of technology has profoundly impacted human identity, raising fundamental questions about what it means to be human in the 21st century. This philosophical exploration delves into the effects of technology on human self-conception, examining how digital tools, artificial intelligence, and virtual realities shape our understanding of identity, consciousness, cosmology, and existence. As technology increasingly mediates human experience, we confront issues of authenticity, agency, and embodiment. The proliferation of online personas, avatars, and digital profiles blurs the lines between the physical and virtual self, prompting questions about the nature of identity and its relationship to the body. This inquiry investigates the tensions between technology's promise of enhanced human capabilities and the potential erosion of human essence. It considers the implications of technological advancements on personal autonomy, social relationships, and the human condition, ultimately seeking to understand whether technology liberates or constrains human identity. By situating these dynamics within Nigerian cosmology, the study highlights the interplay between global technological trends and indigenous philosophical perspectives.
