Population Growth, Real GDP Per Capita, and Economic Welfare in Somalia, 1960–2024

This reproducibility package supports the study entitled “Population Growth, Real GDP Per Capita, and Economic Welfare in Somalia, 1960–2024.”

The package contains the annual master dataset, a Python analysis script, a README file, and Appendix A documenting the data sources, formulas, calculations, methodological decisions, and data limitations.

The dataset was compiled from publicly available country-level aggregate indicators obtained primarily from the World Bank World Development Indicators, United Nations World Population Prospects 2024, United Nations Development Programme, International Monetary Fund, and Somalia National Bureau of Statistics.

The accompanying Python script reproduces the descriptive statistics, historical-episode compound annual growth rates, robustness analyses, benchmark comparisons, growth decomposition, and the years in which derived real aggregate GDP increased while real GDP per capita declined.

No individual-level, confidential, or personally identifiable information is included in this repository.
