This dataset provides a preliminary species checklist for the INRF Djelfa Herbarium, Algeria. The herbarium specimen photographs were originally taken in 2016 during a traineeship period, while the species data table was curated and updated in 2025. The main deposit, INRF_Djelfa_Herbarium_SpeciesData_2025, includes: INRF_Djelfa_Herbarium_SpeciesTable_v1_2025.csv — a curated table with detailed species records README — providing additional notes, a full references list, and guidance on how to cite this work ⚠️ The original specimen images are not included in this Zenodo upload due to file size limitations but can be made available upon request for research purposes. The species table includes the following columns: Field Description ID Unique identifier for each record Scientific Name Accepted Latin name following up-to-date taxonomy (tentative if partially illegible) Name on Tag Name exactly as handwritten on the original specimen label Family Botanical family name Vernacular Names Combined Arabic and Amazigh names, with multiple variants if documented Source References for vernacular names (published or oral folk usage); see References in README Place of Collection Standardized site name (spelling, capitalization, hyphens/spaces unified for consistency) Date of Collection Full date when available; if the day is missing, formatted as MM/YYYY Collector Name of the collector, marked as ‘tentative’ if unclear Notes Relevant clarifications such as ID uncertainty, incomplete tags, local name context, environment, habitat, or folk usage information   Notes are primarily based on handwritten information on specimen tags and sheet inscriptions, with emphasis on scientific naming, collection details, and environmental context. Occasional annotations on local folk usage are included, but such information is relatively limited in this version. This record is shared to support open-access research on Algerian flora, herbarium-based documentation, and conservation efforts. Please cite this Zenodo record when using this dataset.
