This study investigates the effectiveness of government securities in narrowing infrastructure gaps across the region. Using a nonlinear system GMM approach on panel data covering the period 2008–2023, the analysis reveals that both early and expanded issuance of government securities is largely ineffective in driving infrastructure outcomes. Moreover, when interacting with interest payments, the effects worsen while the interaction with Private-Public Partnership and Official Development Assistance indicate positive outcomes in infrastructure development and infrastructure gap narrowing respectively.
