Replication Data for publication in PLOS NTD: Prevalence, intensity and risk factors of tungiasis in Kilifi County, Kenya: I. Results from a community-based study

Tungiasis (sand flea disease) is an ectoparasitosis occurring in South America, the Caribbean and sub-Saharan Africa. It belongs to the so-called 'Neglected Tropical Diseases', a term for a group of diseases affecting the poorest of the poor living in tropical and subtropical conditions. In resource-poor communities without optimal medical care and limited ability to pay for expensive medications, prevention is the most valuable control measure. In this study we identified important risk factors for the occurrence of tungiasis.
