This study investigated the role played by improvisation in basic science teaching in Nigeria. Improvisation in basic science in Nigeria plays very crucial role in enhancing student engagement and understanding, especially given the challenges of limited resources. Effective teaching of basic science in Nigerian schools requires innovation approaches, given the scarcity of instructional resources. Improvisation, or the use of locally available materials to substitute for standard equipment has emerged as a vital strategy. This approach not only fosters creativity, and problem-solving skills among students, but also makes science more accessible and relevant to their everyday experiences. This paper explores the role of improvisation in basic science teaching in Nigeria, highlighting its benefits, challenges, and implications for teacher training and educational policy.
