This paper reviews the techniques developed at SONDRA to detect targets under the canopy. It starts with a single SAR image with the plate detector and continues with the recent use of the SAR series. Different approaches are described for the latter, whether using azimuthal diversity or variation in the time series at a pixel level. We illustrated two methods using a short time series of SAR airborne images acquired by ONERA and applied to car detection within tropical forests.
