This data is an Excel spreadsheet containing the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Index Scores of South Africa, as published in the 2023 Sustainable Development Report. The dataset covers a 10-year period from 2012 to 2022. The SDG Index Score, measured on a scale of 0 to 100, represents the country's overall progress in achieving all 17 SDGs, as proposed by Sachs et al. (2023). The data encompasses both the aggregate index score for the entire nation and the individual index scores for each of the 17 SDGs. This dataset provides valuable insights into South Africa's sustainable development performance and its progress towards meeting the global goals outlined in the SDGs. Researchers, policymakers, and stakeholders can utilise this dataset to assess and strategise sustainable development initiatives in the country.
