Sport et politique nationale au Bénin de 1975 à 1990

Sports in french-speaking African countries is organised on the french system. Only performing sports system is proposed by the national leaders. The analysis of sport policies of an African country, Benin, since its independence show that the political will is not sufficient. Cultural, social and economic realities are different from those of industrialized countries and do not allow the development of sports, neither do they allow its use as a factor of creation of a feeling of national identity. The setting up of a system of sport that does not adapt to the cultural and economic characteristics of the country has led to the creation of a meaningless structure. The political incompetence of the leadens during the period of 1975 to 1990 has also brought about the collapse of the few sport organizations of the past.
