Each SDK contains a total of 12 parameters, described below. Likewise, each SDK includes 199 technologies and 30 useful energy demands distributed across the different sectors. The design of these SDKs supports modelling of whole energy systems at country level, enabling comprehensive sector-coupling analyses. Users may choose to use the complete dataset or only selected components, depending on their specific needs.
Annual demand — Historical and projected useful energy demand, 2023–2050.
Capacity factor — Ratio of energy produced by a generating unit to the energy it could have produced under continuous full operation. Applicable to renewable power technologies only.
Availability factor — Percentage of planned and forced outages.
Operational life — Technical lifespan.
Installed capacity — Historical installed capacity per technology.
Efficiency — Ratio between output energy and input energy.
Capital cost — Overnight costs from 2023 to 2050.
Fixed cost — Fixed operation and maintenance costs.
Variable cost — Fuel costs for primary energy supply and import technologies; variable non-fuel costs for all other technologies.
Emission factor — Carbon dioxide emission factor per fuel.
Fossil fuel reserves — Crude oil, natural gas, coal, and uranium reserves.
Renewable energy potential — Estimated maximum potential for power generation from renewable sources.
