This booklet reports on the 2025 Symposium on Fall Prevention and Management in Older Adults, organized in Bafoussam by the Cameroonian Society of Physiotherapy, as a prelude to World Physical Therapy Day. Held under the theme "Integrating Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) into Fall Prevention and Management: Challenges and Opportunities in Cameroon," the event brought together physiotherapists, physicians, nutritionists, researchers, and students around a common objective: to strengthen the culture of scientific evidence in the care of older adults.
The booklet presents the presentations, research findings, and clinical innovations adapted to the African context (such as the EFAMRA Express and 8 Directions Test tools), as well as the recommendations from the roundtables. Participants emphasized the need for systematic screening for fall risk, culturally adapted exercise programs, and the integration of nutrition as a central pillar of prevention.
Beyond a simple summary, this document serves as a scientific and practical reference for healthcare professionals, institutions, and policymakers. It marks an important step towards promoting active and dignified aging in Cameroon, while consolidating the place of evidence-based physiotherapy in Africa.
