This is a video recording of speakers of Ikpána describing the names and usages of plants growing in the Logba Traditional Area. First, Daniel Koku Asigbetse pours a libation to the ancestors requesting permission to share the knowledge, then he shows several plants growing in the area and describes their names and usages. Then he and Lawrence Kwasi Ogordor walk through the forest describing the names and usages of plants they find. The recordings were made on 17 November, 2009 in the area around Logba Tota, Ghana using a Sony DCR-HC96 video camera with miniDV tapes. Mawuli Kormla Kahia interpreted and acted as research assistant, while Lydia Green made the recordings and acted as primary investigator. The recordings are in the Ikpána language and show each speaker standing next to the plant as it is being described.
