A recent trend in science education has been the promotion of teaching and learningusing students' native language. In Nigeria, Igbo is one of the main native languagesand it is spoken by millions of people. Explore the terminological development ofteaching and learning physics in the Igbo language. The paucity of technical terms inmany indigenous Nigerian languages, Igbo Language inclusive has resulted indifficulty in the teaching and learning of most science subjects like physics usingindigenous language as a means of instruction. The main aim of this study is to reviewthe Development of Terminology for Teaching and Learning Physics in the Igbolanguage (DTTLPIL). The specific objectives are to: Review the principle oftechnology development in enhancing the teaching and learning of physics educationin the Igbo language, create a comprehensive and standardized list of Igboterminology for various physics concepts to facilitate the teaching and learningprocess and enrich Igbo language with science terms, thereby assists in developingand sustaining the Igbo language. This work is geared at developing Physicsterminologies in the Igbo language for easy transfer of knowledge. The work alsoprovides a glossary of English/Igbo Terminology of physics. The study incorporatingIndigenous languages in the classroom can have numerous benefits for students andpromote cultural diversity and inclusivity.
