This paper explores the potential transformative impact of the
African Sub-Sovereign Governments Network (AfSNET) in the context of
African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) implementation. It posits that,
if armed with abundant local knowledge, sub-sovereign governments are
strategically positioned through AfSNET to align national and local trade
policies to meet the needs of local economies. The paper proposes a roadmap
and recommendations for leveraging AfSNET to overcome existing barriers and
unlock significant economic opportunities at the local and regional levels, to
promote greater integration and facilitate cross-border trade. Journal of Contemporary Issues in African Trade and Trade Finance, 9(1), 104-121
