This systematic review and meta-analysis aims to estimate the pooled prevalence of analgesic self-medication in Nigeria (63% expected) and examine variations across population groups, geopolitical zones, analgesic classes, sources, drivers, and time periods. We will search 7 databases (2010–2026) for studies reporting analgesic self-medication prevalence among Nigerian populations. Two independent reviewers will screen, extract data, and assess quality. Analysis will use random-effects meta-analysis with subgroup analyses, meta-regression, and publication bias assessment. The findings will provide the first comprehensive evidence base to inform pharmaceutical regulation, healthcare policy, and targeted interventions in Nigeria.
