The World Health Organization (WHO) confirmed the rising spate of malnutrition burden especially in under-5 children in Africa, and Nigeria as the most populous black nation is grossly affected. Amidst lingering hunger, and food insecurity issues; the emergence of COVID-19 pandemic is expected to severely exacerbated malnutrition in Nigeria especially in children and women. Concurrently, the malnutrition spate is also a contributing factor to increase the impact of infectious diseases like COVID-19 in Nigeria, hence there is need to consider their impacts together and provide striking interventions. This commentary article presents a perspective on the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and child malnutrition burden in Nigeria; with special focus on strategic solutions so as to improve the health and well-being Nigerian children.
