Education is sometimes overlooked while other sectors take into account strategy, policy, planning, development outcomes, and the role of education in building professional capacity for sustainable growth transitions. The primary objective of this study is to inspect how climate change impacts education and close the knowledge gap by highlighting and funding the part that education plays in addressing climate change at higher education institutions, despite the existing evidence of its influence on others. The study uses a quantitative research approach with time series. The World Bank Development Indicators (WBDI) and the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) provided data between 1996 and 2023. The Auto-Regression Distributive Lag (ARDL) techniques were used in this investigation. The results demonstrated a correlation between climate education and its impact on education, as well as a positive and significant connection between students' performance and climate change. Therefore, government policies must enhance the infrastructure necessary to support climate education in South Africa and expand the pool of trained instructors. The paradigm of education must include social-emotional and action-oriented learning in addition to cognitive transfer. To offer workable education reform packages that enhance the curriculum, effectively prepare teachers, engage students, and prepare schools and educational institutions for climate change.
