Abstract This chapter proposes a rationale for the apparent lack of economic reform consensus in Cameroon. Drawing on the political economy literature, we provide a model-based evidence that the quasi status quo may have resulted from a systematic strategy by the rent-seeking elite to buy off constituencies to counter reform proposal by any reform-minded group. The chapter focuses on the interaction between different interest groups and not on specific reforms, many of which are explored throughout the handbook
