The potential value of CD-ROM has implications for different socio- cultural environments, especially for developing countries such as Nigeria. The advantages of CD- ROM in the context of Nigeria are discussed in detail. The benefits of CD-ROM in Nigerian libraries and information centres can only be achieved if certain requirements are met. These requirements are described and suggestions are made as to how Nigerian libraries and information centres could satisfy them.
