ABSTRACT
This paper explores the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to transform public service delivery in Nigeria, where sectors like healthcare, education, and tax administration face persistent challenges related to inefficiency, limited resources, and accessibility. AI technologies such as machine learning, data analytics, and natural language processing offer promising solutions to streamline operations, optimize resource allocation, and enhance decision-making processes within these sectors. Through case studies, the paper evaluates AI applications in diagnostics, personalized learning, and tax compliance, demonstrating AI’s capability to improve service efficiency and quality. However, successful integration requires overcoming obstacles such as inadequate infrastructure, limited technical skills, and regulatory gaps. The study highlights policy recommendations, including developing digital infrastructure, implementing data privacy regulations, and investing in workforce capacity. By addressing these challenges, Nigeria can leverage AI to improve public sector responsiveness, transparency, and inclusivity, ultimately fostering sustainable development.
