The SASA! Together Radio Booster study is a mixed methods evaluation of a 33-episode radio drama ‘Together with Gloria’ (TWG), that was implemented alongside SASA! Together community programming in Kasese District, western Uganda. Together with Gloria was aired on three local radio stations in Kasese. The evaluation research was conducted in 18 villages in Kisinga Sub County in which SASA! Together community programming was underway, and was designed to assess the potential of the radio drama to boost both the reach and impact of the community programming. These datasets contain the results of two cross-sectional quantitative surveys of community members across the 18 study sites, a ‘baseline’ survey (n=644) conducted approximately six weeks after TWG began airing, and a follow-up survey (n=1,018) conducted approximately 33 weeks later (6 weeks after final broadcast). The study involved both quantitative and qualitative data collection. This record relates solely to the quantitative data collection. Data collection took place in 18 villages in Kisinga Sub County, in which SASA! Together community programming was underway and TWG was being broadcast. 9 of the villages were randomly selected to form the basis of the female sample, with the remaining 9 forming the basis of the male sample (same allocation for both data collection rounds). A systematic sample of households, based on the ‘random’ walk method, was drawn separately for each survey round, and a maximum of one eligible person per household randomly selected to participate in the respective survey. The surveys collected data on TWG reach/listenership, attendance/involvement in other SASA! Together activities, attitudes towards IPV and intimate relationships, quality of intimate relationships, and activism/intention to prevent or respond to IPV. The intervention and evaluation research are described in more detail in the study protocol.
