The Senegal Migration Panel (SMP) is a longitudinal panel dataset of households and individuals designed to provide detailed insights into migration patterns, climate perceptions, socioeconomic conditions, and network relations in rural communities in Senegal. In addition to the core panel, the SMP includes several supplementary surveys. This dataset contains data from one such supplementary survey conducted in 2023 with individuals residing in four Senegalese cities: Dakar, Kaolack, Saint-Louis, and Ziguinchor. Sampled Universe: SMP Urban (2023) comprises one dataset: smp_2023_urban_08_Jul_2026.dta.
Sampling: Men aged 18 to 40 residing in Dakar, Kaolack, St- Louis or Ziguinchor were sampled. Respondents were randomly recruited in two ways. First, 311 respondents from a previous survey in 2022 were recontacted. This prior survey randomly sampled subjects from complete household listings in randomly selected enumeration areas.
