The State of Robotics in Africa 2026 Report is the flagship publication of the African Robotics Network and the first detailed, continent-wide treatment of the robotics ecosystem in Africa. Organised around four pillars — industry, talent and workforce, research and innovation, and policy and regulation — the report documents 80 industry use cases, 60 academic institutions offering robotics-related programmes, and 60 research institutions engaged in robotics-related work across the continent. It presents 14 spotlights on organisations at the forefront of industry, research, and education, alongside 10 case studies exploring the robotics ecosystem in depth. In doing so, it addresses a significant gap in the global robotics literature, bringing rigour and visibility to a field in Africa that has too often been underreported. The report is intended as a resource for researchers, industry practitioners, policymakers, and educators working to advance robotics across Africa.
