Tree (big tree in the middle of the picture) where consultant said to usually have deposited springboks caught in iron traps during hunting expeditions while going back to his former homestead at !Um in order to find people helping him with the transport. The term singular form for Boscia albitrunca in the West !Xoon variety is "=honn", the plural form is "=homakee". The yellow fruits of the shepherd's tree are ripe during December and January. They are peeled and eaten raw. Fruits are also mashed and mixed with grated roots of Helinus integrifolius for a kind of soft drink. The roots were dried, roasted, ground and cooked with water for drinking.
