
Urban pregnant women in Mozambique cities are at risk from Zika virus transmission by Aedes aegypti mosquitoes. Effective vector control strategies are essential to protect public health. A mixed-methods approach including baseline surveys, follow-up assessments, and entomological monitoring data were used. Logistic regression models were employed to analyse health outcomes. In the pilot phase, a significant reduction (p < 0.05) in Aedes aegypti population density was observed after vector control interventions, with a 43% decrease in mosquito breeding sites identified. While initial results show promise, further longitudinal studies are needed to confirm the long-term effectiveness and impact on health outcomes of pregnant women. Continued research should focus on evaluating the broader health impacts of vector control efforts, including maternal mental health and child development.
