HIV continues to be a burden in Nigeria, even though a lot of money has been invested in treatment
and prevention. Though national incidence rates remain quite stable, disruptions to healthcare
provision and prevention measures threaten to undo the progress and lead to new infections. Based
on experience gained during work at Bon and Eve Health Inc., the paper explores how data
analytics can be used to monitor disease prevalence, identify high-risk groups, and enhance
interventions. The findings highlight the need to implement a data-driven public health strategy to
tackle the resurgence of HIV cases and enhance the efficiency of the public health systems in
Nigeria (National Agency for the Control of AIDS [NACA], 2023; Federal Ministry of Health
[FMOH], 2021).
