Parametrization of surface models (SVAT and vegetation), intra and inter-specific variability of vegetation growth and physiological functionning (herbaceous and woody) in response to the variation of rainfall and soil moisture in Gourma (Mali). Interspecific variability of root dynamics. Documentation of the soil characteristics (texture, characteristic curves, infiltration...). These measurements are required for a better parameterization of the response of vegetation and soils to climatic forcings and for water fluxes simulation. These data will provide the basic parameters for the initialization of the surface-atmosphere exchange models. Links with atmospheric chemistry (soil emissions and deposits). This dataset is part of the AMMA-CATCH eco-hydrological observatory over West Africa Observation of the seasonal cover dynamics and funtionning. States of each phenophase were recorded using the following classification: 0 = absent, 1 = beginning, buds for leaves and flowers and early stage of maturity for fruits, 2 = weak, 10-50% of the shrub covered with mature or ripe organs, 3 = peak, over 50% of the shrub covered with mature or ripe organs, 4 = declining, 10-50% of the shrub covered with senescent organs (dissemination beginning for fruits), 5 = end, over 50% of the shrub covered with senescent, dry and falling organs.
