The survey data included here characterizes vowel systems in African languages. Specifically, the spreadsheets list languages and their family information and locations, along with lists of which vowels are present in their inventories, and what kinds of harmony patterns they display. The data was initially collected in Spring 2016 as part of the Areal Linguistic Features in Africa seminar at UC Berkeley, and has been expanded upon since then. The version included here is up-to-date as of March 2019.
