This recording was made at a wake keeping the night before the funeral of Geoffrey Adjabeng, a clan leader. The men gathered at one of the meeting places in the village and spent the night giving speeches, singing and drinking. This event was recorded by Sammy. No outside observer was present. In this recording, the men are singing, there is some conversation and some greetings take place. This recording has not been transcribed or translated. In this recording people are singing a song in a language that is not Avatime (most likely Twi) and then there is some informal conversation. Sammy can be heard speaking here, but I do not know who the other speakers are. At about 2 minutes and 10 seconds in the recording somebody arrives and greetings are exchanged. The conversation and greetings take place in Avatime. The song that is sung in the beginning is probably in Twi. Sammy records and also takes part in the conversation. Several other people that I cannot identify speak on this recording. Language_Name: Avatime
