Version 1.0 of the Water Footprint Decision Tool is archived as a reproducible software release for scientific documentation and citation. The tool provides an interactive framework for estimating crop water footprint components, crop water requirements, water-efficiency-adjusted demand, and comparative crop-water management indicators.
The software combines embedded reference datasets with user-defined manual inputs, enabling flexible application under different climatic, agronomic, and productivity conditions. This dual approach was adopted to improve transparency and credibility, particularly because agricultural area, crop productivity, climate, application efficiency, and water-footprint parameters can vary considerably between countries, regions, and case studies.
The tool is applicable beyond Egypt; however, Egypt is included as a detailed validation and demonstration case using governorate-level calculations. The release package includes the software documentation, technical disclosure document, methodological equations, version metadata, citation information, and supporting files required for long-term archiving.
This archived version supports reproducibility, scientific referencing, software transparency, and future comparison with updated releases.
