This dataset contains documented puting-beliung events in West Java, Indonesia, together with paired SYNOP surface meteorological observations collected during 2016–2024. Event records were obtained from the Indonesia Tornado Database and matched with routinely available SYNOP observations retrieved through Meteomanz. The dataset includes seven meteorological variables representing near-surface thermodynamic and dynamic conditions and was developed to investigate atmospheric evolution preceding puting-beliung occurrence. It supports the evaluation of the Emergent Boundary-layer Index (EBI) and Random Forest models for short-term prediction of severe local wind events.
