Note on pre-registration: I am pre-registering this Randomized Controlled Trial in November 2023, after the intervention has concluded but before midline (and endline) data collection has begun. The Intervention: I am evaluating an employment intervention by the MACOHELP community organization through a randomized-controlled trial. The MACOHELP Training Program aims to improve the economic self-sufficiency of young entrepreneurs/early start-ups in the Kakuma and Kalobeyei areas in Kenya. The training also involves communal conflict resolution. Through the evaluation, I hope to gain a better understanding of how such interventions, primarily, affect economic self-sufficiency, integration, the empowerment of female refugees and female host community members, and how information and resources are spread to individuals outside the program belonging to different groups (e.g., men). The training program ran over 3 months, from August – November 2023. Following this, and the supported development of a business plan, participants will receive a cash grant.
