## Abstract

We present Y7 OS, an AI-first Linux distribution designed from the ground up for low-resource hardware with native bilingual Arabic/English support. Named after its creator (Yahya), Y7 OS integrates a local AI assistant directly into the operating system fabric, eliminating cloud dependency while targeting legacy and low-specification machines including the HP ProDesk 400 G4, Dell OptiPlex 7080, and MSI GT70. The distribution combines the Hyprland Wayland compositor for modern GPU-accelerated rendering with an agent-native architecture that embeds the Hermes AI assistant at the system level, providing natural-language system management, file operations, and contextual assistance. Y7 OS achieves a sub-500MB idle memory footprint through aggressive resource optimization strategies including ZRAM compression, selective service management, and GPU-parity rendering on integrated graphics. We present a comprehensive comparison with mainstream Linux distributions (Ubuntu, Fedora, Arch Lin
