A Comparative Study of the United Kingdom (Europe) versus Angola (Africa)

This dataset supports the study "Behavioural Security Responses to Hacking in Open Banking Systems: A Comparative Study of the United Kingdom (Europe) versus Angola (Africa)." It contains anonymised survey responses collected from 409 participants across the United Kingdom and Angola to investigate behavioural security responses to hacking threats within open banking (OB) ecosystems. The dataset was developed to examine differences in users' security behaviour across two countries representing contrasting levels of digital maturity and open banking adoption. The research integrates the Theory of Interpersonal Behaviour (TIB) and Cognitive Fit Theory (CFT) to analyse how cognitive and behavioural factors influence secure behaviour in response to cybersecurity threats. The dataset includes variables measuring behavioural intention, habit, mental representation, problem representation, problem-solving performance, and secure behavioural responses, together with demographic information. It was used to evaluate the proposed conceptual model and compare behavioural security mechanisms between a mature digital financial ecosystem (United Kingdom) and an emerging digital financial ecosystem (Angola). All data have been anonymised prior to publication. The dataset is intended to support transparency, reproducibility, and future research in open banking, cybersecurity behaviour, digital trust, human-computer interaction, financial technology, and behavioural information systems. Researchers may reuse the dataset for comparative studies, secondary analyses, model validation, and cross-cultural investigations into cybersecurity behaviour and digital financial services.
