A Dataset Assessing Artificial Intelligence Self-Efficacy (AISE) Among University Students in Ghana

This is a dataset that describes data on AI self-efficacy among university students in Ghana. Data were obtained from a study population of university students aged 18 years and above. The sample consisted of 310 students, of which 166 (53.5%) were female and 144 (46.5%) were male. Data were collected in 2025 through a structured questionnaire administered to students from multiple academic disciplines at both undergraduate (57.1%) and postgraduate (42.9%) levels. The instrument consisted of 17 Likert-scale items measuring AI self-efficacy (Cronbach’s α = 0.984), along with demographic questions and items on AI familiarity and frequency of AI use. Convenience sampling was used for participant recruitment. Research analyses aimed at examining the relationship between AI self-efficacy, familiarity, and frequency of AI use were carried out using descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and group comparison tests in the Jamovi software. The research instrument demonstrated excellent internal consistency and was deemed appropriate for the study. Various descriptive statistical analyses were performed to clarify the data and provide a basis for further statistical exploration.
