Microfinance has generated considerable expectations and has become a central component of contemporary economic development dynamics. It concerns not only producers and financial actors, but also large professional and banking institutions as well as local initiatives in short, all stakeholders within an economy. Its primary merit undoubtedly lies in providing access to financial services to populations traditionally excluded from the formal banking sector. Currently, formal financial institutions are increasingly incorporating lessons learned from experience in managing small-scale financial transactions. It is within this evolving landscape that the present research is situated. This study proposes the use of Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) as innovative tools for preventing financial distress among cooperative credit unions within the UNACOOPEC-CI network.
