A PARAMETRIC COST ESTIMATING MODEL OF WALL FINISHES COST RELATIVE TO TOTAL CONSTRUCTION COST USING CONSTRUCTION COST INDICES OF RESIDENTIAL BUILDING PROJECTS IN SOUTH-WESTERN NIGERIA

Data Description Dataset Title Parametric Cost Estimating Model of Wall Finishes Cost Relative to Total Construction Cost Using Construction Cost Indices of Residential Building Projects in South-Western Nigeria.   Abstract This dataset contains anonymized cost information from 60 completed residential building projects executed between 2011 and 2025. Historical costs were normalized to 2025 price levels using Construction Cost Indices to eliminate inflation effects before statistical analysis.   Study Area Projects were obtained from Lagos and Ogun States within South-Western Nigeria. Data Sources Bills of Quantities, Final Accounts and project archives from quantity surveying firms.   Sampling Purposive sampling was adopted because only projects with complete and reliable cost records were included. Variables Project identifier, completion year, total construction cost, wall finishes cost, construction cost index, normalized total cost, normalized wall finishes cost and derived analytical variables. Processing Historical costs were converted to 2025 values using the chain-linked Construction Cost Index. Data were checked for completeness, consistency and transcription errors before analysis. Quality Assurance Random verification against source documents, duplicate checks, arithmetic validation, regression diagnostics and correlation checks were undertaken.   Software Microsoft Excel and SPSS were used for preparation and statistical analysis. Limitations Dataset represents residential projects only and excludes projects with incomplete records.   Reuse Suitable for regression, cost modelling, teaching, benchmarking and meta-analysis.
