A posição lexical do songo dentro do grupo H20 (kimbundu strictu sensu, sama, bolo e songo)

This paper aims to show initial results from a comparative statistical study carried out with informants in the Kisongo and Kisama languages, based on a corpus of 129 basic words. For the Kimbundu language we have used the lexicon from Kukanda (1974), and for the Libolo language, from Johnston (1922). The statistical results of this comparative sample show the percentage of cognate and non-cognate words, highlighted through analysis of the lexicon of each of the languages studied. The data from the study indicates a significant set of similar words in the Kimbundu, Kisama and Libolo languages. The most significant occurrence of cognates between the languages is in the basic vocabulary. The lowest number of occurrences of cognates is between Kimbundu and Kisongo. Our phonological and lexical analysis substantiates this phenomenon of cognates or non-cognates. This study shows the occurrences and the degree of lexical similarity between Kisongo and other H20 group languages.
