This repository contains the computational code and supplementary materials used for the study “A Retrospective Spatio-Temporal Analysis of Malaria Prevalence in Kano State, Nigeria: A 20-Year Geospatial Assessment.”
The repository provides the Jupyter Notebook used to analyse annual malaria prevalence across the 44 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Kano State, Nigeria, for the period 2000–2019. The analysis includes temporal assessment of malaria prevalence, comparison of prevalence between study periods, extraction of intervention coverage from geospatial raster datasets, contemporaneous and lagged correlation analyses, and regression modelling of the relationship between malaria prevalence and intervention coverage.
The notebook implements analyses of insecticide-treated net (ITN)/net-use coverage and antimalarial treatment coverage, including one-year-lagged intervention variables, LGA fixed-effects regression models, per-LGA correlation analyses, coefficient and scatter plots, temporal trend visualisations, prevalence heatmaps, and variance inflation factor (VIF) assessment for the combined intervention model.
The repository contains the original Jupyter Notebook and a requirements file specifying the Python packages required to reproduce the analyses. The external malaria prevalence shapefile and intervention raster datasets used by the notebook are not included in this repository.
