A uGMRT and MeerKAT study of spectral shapes for galaxies in XMM-LSS

We use the combined observing capabilities of the upgraded Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope (uGMRT) and MeerKAT to form a new set of sensitive radio continuum images which we call superMIGHTEE. The radio continuum observations cover a 120 – 1800 MHz frequency range on the XMM-LSS field. With these data, we can probe radio-selected galaxies right down to the microJy level and determine the physical processes underlying the observed radio emission. To do this, we obtain spectral index and spectral curvature constraints across frequencies covered by uGMRT band-3 and -4 as well as the MeerKAT L-band. Obtaining optical/near-infrared counterparts from archival Hyper Suprime-Cam and UltraVISTA, we explore causality between radiative processes powerting radio emission and host galaxy properties by determining how spectral curvature varies galaxy properties such as dust-corrected optical colour and stellar mass for radio sources up to z~6.
