This was a qualitative study using semi-structured interviews conducted in Ghana. The study involved mothers and healthcare professionals who participated in a larger study assessing the feasibility of kangaroo mother care for the transport of preterm and low-birthweight infants from peripheral maternity units to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital for specialist care. It is expected that results from this study would help inform and shape a large scale research into a randomised trial of KMC transport in Ghana
