SnakebiteTriage is an open-source, AI-assisted, explainable Clinical Decision Support System (CDSS) developed to strengthen the assessment, triage, emergency management, referral, and monitoring of snakebite patients in resource-constrained healthcare settings. The platform supports frontline healthcare workers by providing structured, evidence-based guidance during the initial evaluation and ongoing management of patients presenting with suspected snakebite envenoming.

The system combines standardized clinical assessment workflows, evidence-based clinical algorithms, guideline-derived decision logic, and contextual risk factors to generate transparent clinical recommendations with an auditable rationale. Rather than functioning as an opaque predictive model, SnakebiteTriage enables healthcare workers to understand the clinical basis for each recommendation, supporting consistent, guideline-concordant decision-making while maintaining clinician oversight. The platform assists healthcare providers in identifying severe envenoming, determining referral urgency, recommending appropriate emergency management pathways, and supporting patient monitoring throughout the continuum of care.

Designed for deployment in low-resource environments, SnakebiteTriage operates with offline functionality and can be configured to align with national or institutional snakebite management guidelines. Its modular architecture supports interoperability with existing digital health systems and facilitates adaptation to different healthcare settings without requiring substantial infrastructure investment.
