
This paper examines the critical role of the Technical Business Analyst (TBA) in driving successful digital transformation across African enterprises. Despite unprecedented technology investment across Sub-Saharan Africa over 73 percent of digital projects continue to fail due to poorly defined requirements and the absence of structured business analysis methodology. This paper investigates the structural mechanisms driving that failure and proposes a concrete and replicable solution.
Drawing on applied project experience in healthcare process redesign and retail digital migration the author presents the BRIDGE Model as a six-phase framework for embedding structured Requirements Engineering and BPMN 2.0 process modelling and Agile delivery governance into technology organisations. The paper demonstrates through case evidence that the application of the BRIDGE Model reduced process cycle time by 27 percent and eliminated three non-value-adding handoff steps and delivered a fully documented Requirements Traceability Matrix covering 38 functional requirements across a 2-sprint Agile cadence with zero scope creep.
The paper further analyses the competitive advantage available to remote-ready business analysts in the post-pandemic global talent market and argues that the Kenyan BA who masters asynchronous documentation and global Agile delivery is competing globally and not just locally. The BRIDGE Model and the Technical Business Analyst role are positioned as the highest-leverage interventions available to African enterprises seeking to close the gap between technology investment and technology value.
