AfroHydro v1.0 is a daily gauge-enhanced satellite precipitation dataset developed for Africa using an Optimal Interpolation (OI) framework adapted from the Canadian Precipitation Analysis (CaPA). The dataset combines IMERG Early satellite precipitation as the background field with observations from GHCNd and TAHMO rain-gauge networks to produce spatially continuous daily rainfall estimates. AfroHydro was developed to improve precipitation estimation in data-sparse regions of Africa for hydrological modelling, flood forecasting, drought monitoring, climate analysis, agricultural applications, and water resources management.
