This dataset contains candidate archaeological detection results for possible cairn pendants and Mustatil-like structures identified through remote-sensing analysis with the desktop AI/GIS program Mustatil. The detections were generated using a Faster R-CNN ResNet-50 FPN model trained for archaeological feature recognition and exported as a geospatial GeoPackage layer.
The uploaded detection layer contains 6,575 candidate polygons in EPSG:3857, covering an area of central Saudi Arabia roughly between 43.09–44.27°E and 23.80–24.52°N. These features should be treated as AI-assisted candidate detections, not as confirmed archaeological sites. Manual review, field verification, and comparison with additional imagery are required before archaeological interpretation.
The dataset is intended to support open research on large-scale detection of desert archaeological structures, including possible cairn pendants, burial-related stone features, and Mustatil-like monuments. Mustatil was used for model-assisted detection, geospatial visualization, and export of the resulting candidate polygons. Made with AI.
