Appendix: Late Ottoman Ceramics from the Ethiopian Monastery in the Old City of Jerusalem

In August 2017, a trial excavation was conducted inside a building at the corner of Aqaba al-Khanqa Street and Ethiopian Monastery Street in the Christian Quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem (Permit No. A-8083; map ref. 221913/631840; Fig. 1), prior to the establishment of a cultural center for Jerusalem's Christian Ethiopian community. The excavation, undertaken on behalf of the Israel Antiquities Authority, was directed by Y.D. Kagan, with the assistance of N. Nehama and S. Cohen (administration), V. Essman (surveying), O. Rose (photogrammetry and plans), A. de Vincenz (pottery; appendix), B. Ouahnouna (glass), I. Lidsky-Reznikov (pottery drawing), V. Nosikovsky (cleaning of organic finds), C. Amit (studio photography) and H. Bitan (location maps). Israel Antiquities Authority workers participated in the excavation.
