Artificial Intelligence for Climate-Related Security Risk Early Warning in Africa: A Scoping Review of Evidence, Gaps, and Governance Implications

This project contains the pre-registered protocol for a scoping review on the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in early warning systems for climate-related security risks in Africa. The review follows the PRISMA Extension for Scoping Reviews (PRISMA-ScR) and is conducted by an interdisciplinary team from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. A systematic search of Scopus confirmed no existing scoping review at this intersection. Databases include Scopus, PubMed, OpenAlex, and Semantic Scholar, supplemented by grey literature from SIPRI, WMO, and UNFCCC. This protocol is registered prior to data extraction.
