Usage of the Live-CD:
The Live-CD provides a bootable GIS workspace (GISIX-DISSIX) for Intel- and AMD-based computers, based on a compressed KNOPPIX-Live-CD for Debian Linux. For computers with different CPUs can (only) access the non-compressed folders containing content in HTML and PDF. Launching the GIS workspace requires the host computer to boot the ISO image (from the digital image or as a CDROM). by default no files will be written to the file systems of the host machine. If necessary, a bootable floppy disk can be generated. Please check the HTML-folders for details. Once the boot sequence has been initiated, a coomand line will open. Please enter "gisix" and hit return to start the KDE-Windowmanager. Use the "K"-Menue on the lower left of the desktop to access the menue item "Dissertation", which contains the scientific content. The GIS work environment (GRASS GIS) is available via the tab "Applications". The GRASSCAPE shell can be launched from the GRASS GIS prompt by entering "grasscape". The command "exit" exits the GRASSCAPE environment. To shut the Live-CD down select the option "Shutdown" from the K-Menue. Back on the initial commandline please enter "halt" to complete the shutdown sequence. Have fun.
