Education remains a critical driver of socioeconomic development, yet many African countries continue to face challenges related to limited access to quality education, inadequate infrastructure, shortages of qualified teachers, weak educational administration, and persistent digital inequalities. Emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and Cloud Computing offer significant opportunities to address these challenges and accelerate sustainable educational transformation across the continent. Adopting a conceptual review approach grounded in the synthesis of recent scholarly and institutional literature, this paper examines the transformative role of these technologies in enhancing teaching, learning, educational administration, and governance. The review shows that AI supports personalized learning, intelligent student support services, predictive analytics, and administrative automation, while IoT technologies enable smart learning environments, real-time monitoring, and improved resource management. Cloud computing, in turn, expands access to educational resources, facilitates collaboration, and strengthens educational data management. The paper proposes an integrated AI–IoT–Cloud ecosystem in which IoT-enabled data collection, cloud-based storage and sharing, and AI-driven analysis jointly generate outcomes such as improved learning, efficient administration, evidence-based policymaking, stronger governance, and greater access and inclusiveness. The paper concludes that strategic investment, supportive policy frameworks, and sustained capacity building are essential for maximizing the benefits of these technologies and achieving sustainable educational development in Africa.
